Terms of Service

Welcome to JP League. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the JP League website at thejpleague.com, mobile application, and related services (collectively, the "Platform"), operated by Paramint ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and participate in JP League games. Participants aged 13–17 may use the Platform with verified parental or guardian consent. The Platform is not intended for children under 13. By registering, you represent that you meet these age requirements.

2. Account Registration

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account information up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

We use Clerk for authentication. By creating an account, you also agree to Clerk's Terms of Service.

3. League Registration and Payments

League participation requires payment of the applicable season registration fee. All payments are processed securely through Stripe. By making a payment, you also agree to Stripe's Terms.

• Registration fees are non-refundable once the season has begun, unless otherwise determined by league administrators at their discretion
• Registration is not complete until payment is confirmed and you are assigned to a team roster
• League administrators may add players without payment at their discretion (e.g., complimentary spots, existing members)

4. Game Participation and Conduct

By participating in JP League games, you agree to:

• Follow all league rules and referee decisions
• Conduct yourself in a sportsmanlike manner at all times
• Not engage in violent, abusive, or threatening behavior toward other players, referees, or staff
• Assume the inherent risks of participating in competitive basketball, including the risk of physical injury

League administrators reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban any participant for violations of league conduct rules, at their sole discretion, without refund.

5. Game Recording and Statistics

All JP League games are recorded via camera systems operated by SportsVisio or league staff. By participating in league games, you consent to:

• Being recorded on video during league games and events
• Your game statistics (points, assists, rebounds, etc.) being collected, displayed on the Platform, and attributed to your player profile
• Game footage being used to generate highlight clips that may be displayed on the Platform
• Your name, likeness, jersey number, and statistics being displayed publicly on league standings, leaderboards, and game recaps

6. Video and Content Rights

League-produced content: All game footage, highlight reels, stat graphics, and other content produced by JP League or its service providers (including SportsVisio and Mux) are the property of JP League. We grant you a personal, non-commercial license to view, download, and share your own highlight clips from the Platform.

User-uploaded content: If you upload photos, videos, or other content to the Platform, you retain ownership of that content. However, by uploading, you grant JP League a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the Platform and in connection with promoting JP League (such as social media, marketing materials, and league communications).

League use: JP League may use game footage, statistics, player photos, and highlight clips for promotional and marketing purposes related to JP League, including social media posts, website content, and league communications. We will not license or sell your likeness to unaffiliated third parties for their independent commercial use without your consent.

7. Intellectual Property

The Platform, including its design, code, logos, graphics, and content (excluding user-uploaded content), is owned by Paramint and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Platform without our written permission.

The JP League name, logo, and "Your game. On record." tagline are trademarks of Paramint. You may not use them without our prior written consent, except to refer to JP League in a factual, non-misleading manner.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
• Upload content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts, the Platform's systems, or data
• Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Platform or extract data without permission
• Interfere with or disrupt the Platform or its infrastructure
• Use game statistics, video, or other Platform data for sports betting or gambling purposes

9. Account Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms, engage in conduct that is harmful to other users or the league, or for any other reason at our sole discretion. Upon termination:

• Your access to the Platform will be revoked
• Your personal information will be handled according to our Privacy Policy
• Historical game statistics and league records may be retained in anonymized form
• Registration fees are non-refundable upon termination for cause

You may delete your account at any time through the app settings or by contacting us. Account deletion is processed within 30 days.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not guarantee the accuracy of game statistics, which are generated by third-party AI systems and may contain errors.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Paramint and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Platform or participation in JP League activities.

Our total liability for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to JP League in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Assumption of Risk

Participation in competitive basketball involves inherent risks, including but not limited to physical injury, illness, and property damage. By registering for JP League, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation and release JP League, Paramint, and their officers, directors, employees, and agents from any and all claims, demands, or causes of action arising from your participation.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Paramint and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your violation of these Terms, your use of the Platform, or your participation in JP League activities.

14. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be resolved through binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association in New York, New York, in accordance with its Commercial Arbitration Rules. You agree to waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action. This arbitration clause does not prevent either party from seeking injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on the Platform and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Platform.
